Councillor Abdul Matin grateful for your concern

Councillor Abdul Matin today offered his thanks to all who have visited the hospital and his home following the brutal assault that left him injured and on life support. Although still recovering, Councillor Matin is on the mend and is once more supporting the people of Weavers and Tower Hamlets.

Bad air causes 4400 Londoners to die early every year

At least 4,400 Londoners are dying prematurely every year because of air pollution, according to research by the Liberal Democrats. In Tower Hamlets the expansion of flights into and out of London City airport and a possible third runway at Heathrow will increase local air pollution and noise nuisance.

Council 'paper' tries to blag its way into Royal visit

East End Life, the 'free' council newspaper (paid for by Council taxpayers) was caught pretending to be a real newspaper when it tried to blag a pass to cover the visit of Prince William to the Whitechapel gallery. One of the 'paper's' reporters wrongly claimed to represent a publication published by the Trinity Mirror Southern media group in order to gain a press pass to the event.

"Euro elections matter!" say Tower Hamlets Liberal Democrat Councillors

Tower Hamlets Liberal Democrat Councillors today highlighted the importance of local people voting in the European elections on June 4. Council Group leader, Stephanie Eaton said "Europe matters! From employment to the environment, from immigration to human rights, the European parliament debates and decides on matters that affect us all. We are hoping for a good turn out on June 4 to support a strong Liberal Democrat team of candidates. We are especially proud that our list includes Jonathan Fryer who lives in Mile End. Jonathan has a fine record of working on equalities issues in Tower Hamlets and across London."
